Jaap and Mieke are here now so it was easy to get out of the house for a quick run. I cut my run short since dinner was almost ready, but still did 3.8 miles. Couldn't properly reset my watch so no time recording.

My week off is coming to an end. It's been quite productive -- and of course it was great to spend time with Leo and Adrian. When they were asleep I took care of the house etc. I also ran today and on Tuesday. Feels good.

When we go out for a walk or when we're in the grocery store we get a lot of friendly comments about our big stroller. "Are they twins?" "How old are they?" "Are they identical?". It's special to see baby twins, that's for sure.

A few weeks ago I was in a store and behind me an older man asked: "excuse me, in which aisle are the babies?" (implying that he wanted to buy some babies). I didn't skip a beat and said: "oh, right there and they're on sale -- two for the price of one!".

To be honest, I had read such a joke earlier on Facebook, haha.

Yesterday I went to Giant with the boys and several people smiled and asked about the boys. Then when I left the store I heard: "oh, do you have twins? We are twins!" Two girls in their late twenties -- clearly identical twins -- smiled and waved at Leo and Adrian.

Unfortunately, the Dutch government will stop issuing passports in Chicago, Atlanta, Boston and Los Angeles.

The Dutch Embassy just announced that after October 1, 2015, passport and visa applications can only be submitted at the Dutch Consulates General in Miami, San Francisco and New York, and at the Netherlands Embassy in Washington, D.C.

This is bad news for many Dutch citizens in the United States since it means their travel time to renew passports will dramatically increase. As a reminder: it is important for Dutch people living abroad to renew their passports on time. Not having a passport while living abroad can mean that you lose your Dutch citizenship.

We wrote about this in 2013 though later it seemed as if the Consulate in Chicago might be spared.

It is super hot today. Very slow run, quite tired.

When I got home I saw a bag with cookies on the desk and I was tempted to take one and skip my run. As always: I'm glad I didn't do that, it feels great to have run. It was warm but not too humid, quite pleasant actually.

On Sunday I ran a 6.2 miles and clearly I wasn't fully recovered from that on Tuesday night. The run was slow. Since Sasha was going to Pilates I cut my run short a little bit (I started a little late) and that was a good thing.

In the evening we went for a long walk to Whole Foods and back. After dinner I became very irritable which is very rare for me and a sure sign I over-trained. I woke up at 5.00 am and took a Tylenol. Felt good this morning.

This is the thirteenth book I read in preparation for the 2016 Presidential Elections.

The first half of the book is a nice autobiography. Mr Cruz is a law-geek, and behaves quite similarly to the tech-geeks that I'm well familiar with. He clearly thinks high of himself -- and he truly seems a smart person -- but also knows that pride can be his weakness and he is nicely self-deprecating at times.

In the last 100 pages, when he is a Senator, the book changes its tone and it became harder to sympathize with Mr. Cruz -- his ideas and comments are just too different and in my opinion completely wrong.

The Benghazi/IRS nonsense overshadows his arguments when he points out legitimately dubious elements of the Obama administration's actions such as the wiretapping of journalists
