We came back from Amsterdam, we went to good-old Pathé Arena tonight. We've seen quite a lot of movies there when we still lived in Florijn. It's a great theater (and a lot better than the ones in Haarlem).

Tonight we saw Simone. I had high expectations but we were disappointed... Too simple story, bad acting: not recommendable. On the other hand, we still had a nice evening with an hilarious moment in the metro. We were discussing some secret stuff (in Bulgarian of course) when the guy opposite us started talking on his mobile... in Bulgarian!

This evening I was at 999 Games to learn some new games. Once every month they organize such an evening.

I've learned a couple of games, also some new titles that I had never seen before, such as Solo and Beestenboel.

In the beginning of the evening I had to arrange some paperwork, and then Rutger invited me for a game of Andromeda. It's an older game, but I never took the time to learn it.

Rutger explaining Andromeda.

After that I asked Jerry if he could refresh my memory on Machiavelli. I've played it before, but I forgot how exactly the game is like.

Jerry explaining Machiavelli.

The next one was Solo, basically the same as the Dutch game called Pesten.

The first new game of the evening: Solo.

Regenboogslang is a game for kids, very easy.

Regenboogslang.

Another kids game: Beestenboel. Quite boring for adults, fun I suppose for kids. Remotely related to Set. Funny how the farmer on the cards is called: Farmer Rutger.

Beestenboel.

The next game, 'Oh Hell' looked more interesting. It is quite similar to 99-en (a game I once almost won a tournament in). We didn't actually play it, but the rules looked easy enough.

Oh Hell.

Babel, the next game, we played longer. It's quite interesting.

Babel.

The last game we played was Caesar & Cleopatra.

Finally the cabinet resigned; a very happy day!

On May 15th we were watching elections at home. Jerry, Marjolein, Tibor, Janneke and Alrik were here to watch TV. We had a cosy evening and I invited everybody to come again on the night of the next elections, around Christmas.

I would like it my party wins a lot of votes, but that's not even the biggest reason why I'm happy with Balkenende's resignation. It's just that now it's clear that in politics not always the guys with the biggest mouth win, but the ones with the most capabilities will prevail in the end. There's a nice overview of the clowns here

Up to the new elections!

Today is the funeral of HRH Prince Claus. And this afternoon two friends will receive their university degrees! Marjolein & Jerry finished their biology study with an internship in Colombia.

Now I'm studying, in a while I'll go to the VU to see my teacher. In the afternoon I'll go and see the new 'Masters'.

I just missed the bus from 15:20, the next one will be in half hour. Think it's too late to go to the VU now because many people leave early there and I won't be there before 16:30. So I'll go to my teacher tomorrow morning, and just study this afternoon.

Centrum Wiskunde & InformaticaI'm at the CWI again just like a month ago. I had a meeting with my teacher, Wan Fokkink.

We've made an appointment for my exam, it will be next Wednesday (23rd October) at 14:00 o'clock. The final mark will consist of 3 parts: this exam, a (relatively small) practical assignment and an exam on I/O automata.

Now I'll go to the VU to see the teacher who deals with IOA and make an appointment with him for the 3rd part.

We just came back from Joost's birthday, he turned 24 (congrats Joost!). Had a very cosy evening, and a delicious meal. We were 'cooking at the table' (gourmet).

There were 20 people so we needed 3 sets of the cooking things. Last years we always had a power black-out because of a too high power demand, so measures were taken to prevent that. But again...

Perhaps next year we'll have dinner without a power black-out :)
