In the morning I wasn't sure what kind of run I wanted to do, but the nice weather forecast convinced me to go for the 12.6 course in Umstead. Maximum temperature was 85, low humidity, and indeed it was wonderful weather for a run.

Got a phone call at 0:52, answered an e-mail. At the water stop at 1:18 pm, left at 1:21 pm.

I finished strong. At 2.15 pm I was just before the dam, and continuously ran the next 15 minutes until almost the finish. On my previous runs the last 15/20 minutes I couldn't run continuously.

85 degrees, 35% humidity.

Run with NCRC at Crabtree Mall yesterday. The Crabtree greenway goes all the way up to the mall. I had ran on it before around Umstead, but never been this far up north. It actually ends a mile from the mall.

Ran my usual route in Umstead. About 84 degrees, 50% humidity. Felt easier than last week, almost exactly the same time.

Had another great run with NCRC tonight. It is so much fun to run with a group; makes me run faster.

Started running from the car which was parked 0.5 mile from the start since I was late (always like that of course -- the closer you are to an event the later you arrive ;)). Then caught up with the main group. Very humid, very warm.

Turtle.I had a great run after work. Nowadays it doesn't get dark until late, and Umstead Park is open until 9.00 pm so with some planning I can do a long run.

I saw two deer (one of them scared me a lot) and all the way at the end of my run a small turtle on the trail. I wonder how long it would take to cross the trail.

Turtle.

I carry my cell phone, which has a camera, on my long runs.

I ran the Race for the Cure again. I really enjoyed it last year and this year was great again. I ran with the NCRC team.

My time was around 26:15 but I forgot to switch off my watch at the finish so I'm not sure. That's very close to my time last year. I noticed that the heat slowed me down. Even though we started at 7.00 am it was around 75 degrees, and the humidity was 84%.

The recreational run at 9.00 am had around 20,000 participants, and the event raised around $2 million for breast cancer research, treatment and prevention.

On my way to Raleigh there was a traffic jam due to a car that had crashed into a firetruck.

Went for a nice run on the standard course around Duke; my last run before Saturday's 5k race.

Made the traffic light 29:45. End time was 33:37 -- 9.6 minutes/mile.

Great trail run. Loblolly trail to the end (took 30 minutes), then 8 minutes on gravel trail back to intersection with Loblolly, back to beginning. 12.8 minutes/mile
