The Metropolitan Museum of Art continues its series of major exhibitions by presenting Haarlem artist Frans Hals (1582 – 1666). The American institution highlights the Dutch golden age from 26 July to 10 October 2011.

The event features thirteen paintings by the artist and several other pieces by Dutch masters and contemporaries. The artworks are from private and museum collections. His portraits are emphasised, as are his interior scenes.
