The Society of Daughters of Holland Dames Descendants of the Ancient and Honorable Families of New Netherland will hold its 116th Annual Meeting & Tea For Members and Associates at The Colony Club in New York City on April 21, 2011. The event will start at 2:00pm and continue until 5:00.
Speaker Carolina Sterling will present a program on Dutch Tulips. She will speak about the history of tulips, how they arrived in Holland, and of Tulipomania, the speculative tulip craze which peaked around 1637. She will also talk about her favorite travel destination in the late spring: the breathtaking Keukenhof Gardens in Southern Netherlands. She will bring some of her most beloved tulip varieties, including French tulips.
