DESIGN - BACK TO BASICS
HOW TO MAINTAIN COMFORT WHEN RESOURCES ARE SCARCE
1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
An interactive workshop, led by design professionals in multiple disciplines, brings together members of the design community and the general public to discuss solutions for providing the basic needs of everyday life - food, clothing, shelter, light and community - when resources are scarce. Using a c. 1784 historic site as his starting point, architect Floris Buisman will launch the workshop by illustrating the efficiency of energy production and consumption over time. What other efficiencies for everyday living can be introduced using a multidisciplinary problem-solving approach? How do Dutch and American designers differ in their approaches?
Breakout groups will be led by design professionals in multiple disciplines.
