On Sunday Nov. 4, 2012 at 2 p.m., the New Castle Court House Museum, located at 211 Delaware St., New Castle, DE 19720, will present Dutch-American Heritage, a lecture by historic-site interpreter Thomas Pulmano on the history of Swanendael, established in 1631 in present-day Lewes; and a later Dutch expedition in 1651 which build Fort Casimir at present-day New Castle. Pulmano, who is fluent in the Dutch language as a result of an extended military stint in the Netherlands and subsequent marriage to a Dutch woman, will also explore the origins of Dutch-American Heritage Day (http://thehague.usembassy.gov/friendship_days2.html) which commemorates the first salute that was fired by the Dutch in recognition of the American flag in 1776. The museum will also be open for tours between 1:30 and 4:30 p.m. For additional information, call 302-323-4453.
