OKTOBERFEST IS BACK!
We always have a good time. Lots of eating and drinking and goofing off! Sundays are FAMILY days with a few kiddie rides and petting zoo, so this is not an adult-only event. There is however, plenty of beer drinking going on....If you want, you can BRING YOUR OWN STEIN to drink out of or buy one there to get in the spirit. Fresh German bread and pastries will also be for sale as well as other vendor booths with unusual items.
We will bring table clothes again this year to try and save some tables together. Sunday's the fest is from 11:00 am to 6:00pm. It seems the OX on the spit remains popular so we go as a group on the days they cook the Oxen.
The Phoenix Club in Anaheim is the largest German club in the United States and hosts Oktoberfest on all four weekends of Oktober where you can enjoy German foods such as bratwurst, sauerkraut, potato pancakes, wienerschnitzel, and they will have a WHOLE ox roasting on a spit. If none of that sounds good, they also have good old American classics such as the hamburger, hotdog, fries and ham/cheese sandwiches. Of course you can try a variety of German beers (as well as American ones if you REALLY prefer....) and there will be live entertainment by several traditional style German bands.
Lets meet up on Sunday the 9th around 11:00 and have some German food for lunch! Admission to Oktoberfest is $5 per person, but parking is free. (Also: scout the web for coupons, in previous years they did have "free admission" coupons on websites and in local magazines, but I do not know if they have that this year)
They have a fairly large parking lot available so you should be good if you arrive early - signs will point you in the right direction.
The Phoenix Club is in Anaheim, just north of the Anaheim Ducks stadium. Best way to reach the Phoenix Club is from the 57 freeway, exit Ball Road, go east, and take the first street to the right, where the car dealerships are.
More information can be found on their website: http://www.thephoenix...
See you there! Maarten & Julia. MEET UP LOCATION: eating area tables or in the festhalle. As usual we try to get a table, and make it the Dutch stronghold among all them Germans. ;-) Look for a bright orange tshirt and a Dutch flag and/or ring Maarten's cell: +1 (714) 467-7418 - Please be early, so we can hold the table more easily!
Ein prosit, ein prosit, gemütlichheit!
