RCHS and The New Netherlands Research Center have partnered to present a day exploring the Dutch heritage of what is now Rensselaer County.
The morning will consist of lectures and in the afternoon there will be a tour of Hoogebergh, a private, family owned property that has remained in the Staats family for eleven generations.
The keynote address is titled A Dutch Founding Father: Abraham Staats and will be given by Dr. Eric Ruijssenaars, New Netherland Research Center’s first Senior Scholar in Residence and founder of Dutch Archives, a historical research firm in Leiden.
