Elementary Economics, a book for high-school students. Was good to refresh my knowledge of the field a bit.

A description of the history of international cooperation (or the lack thereof) in the fields of security, economic policy, social policies and military alliances. It's written in a bit boring style unfortunately. The author is clearly not in favor of the United States' policy on a lot of things; but that's perhaps not surprising given the fact that he works for the Parool, a traditionally left-wing newspaper.

The description of the development of international law and of the United Nations was interesting.

To Hungary by car.I was planning to get up very early and be at Amsterdam Amstel at 7:30 o'clock this morning, to say goodbye to Daniël and have some coffee together.

Daniël called me yesterday, and told me that he was at a concert (Sinnead O'Connor). His surprise: he was not going to travel by bus today. Turns out that Jerry offered him to bring him to Hungary by car!

So they're on their way now - Jerry, Marjolein and Daniël. They plan on traveling to Hungary non-stop -- well, with small breaks of course but without spending the night somewhere. Jerry asked what my plans for today and the weekend were. I must say I was tempted but there is a lot of work to do; another time.

According to Geostar the distance between Amsterdam and Tiszaföldvár is 1535 km. It takes around 14-15 hours by car.

President Bush.Didn't see the State of the Union live -- it was a little too early for that. In these uncertain times it's good to stay up-to-date; it's nice that the transcript of the speech is online.

"Mr. Speaker, Vice President Cheney, members of Congress, distinguished citizens and fellow citizens, every year, by law and by custom, we meet here to consider the state of the union."
