Waking up slowly. Had coffee, some breakfast, more coffee, shower... now a beer again because we'll be playing Kolonisten. Svetla and Radoslav never played it before so I have a fair chance of winning :)


The party yesterday was very nice, especially around midnight. There was so much fireworks in Haarlem! Ettie brought her camera so there'll be pictures online later.

It's always nice to see that other people I know have a website as well. Mirjam started one to keep everybody up-to-date on the daily life of Linda in Suriname.

Svetla and Radoslav are here, they came from Brussels. I tried to make a Dutch dinner, but I'm not sure whether or not chicken, brocolli and mashed potatoes is so typical Dutch...

Anyway -- we had a pleasant evening. Tonight we made a short walk through Haarlem.

Yesterday evening we celebrated budni vecher in Haarlem, today we are in Middenmeer and tomorrow we'll go and see my grandmother.

The VARA has an online competition on your knowledge about polical parties in the Netherlands.

You'll have to play the role of the 8 party leaders and answer a lot of questions about them and their party.

The winner of this tournament will get a real (used) parliament seat!

Today I've been working on the algorithm for the traffic lights controller. At first, potentially lethal situations occurred frequently as I let cars on both road cross at the same time but it works okay now.

Because there are no lights in the Lego Mindstorms set a small motor is doing the traffic light's job: a rotating motor is green, a slow rotating motor is yellow and when the motor is off it indicates the light is red.

Bought a Christmas tree today too.

My parents were here tonight and we played two games. I played very bad. Sasha won both games.
