Sunday was a travel day. In the morning we went for another long walk along the Delaware & Raritan canal. We packed our bags, made some sandwiches and drove from Somerset, NJ to Alexandria, VA. We went to Sasha's place and moved her belongings to her new house for the summer.

Through a friend Sasha had found a new place to stay, much closer to her work. And it's definitely a great location: it's in the middle of Georgetown, a few minutes walking away from M-street.

Monday morning early I drove to Durham. I usually have several conference calls on Monday mornings and taking them from the car worked well. I drove to my office in Raleigh. In the evening I had dinner with Belen, Esteban and Hernan in Durham; that was a great way of coming home to North Carolina.

A quiet street in Georgetown.

Things are pretty hectic around here. I'll be in New Jersey for a project for a few more weeks, and Sasha started her internship in Washington DC three weeks ago. This weekend she's moving to another apartment (much closer to work) so right now we have 4 homes that we could sleep in, in 3 different cities and 3 different states.

Obviously, this involves a lot of travel. Yesterday evening we met in Philadelphia where we had dinner in the train station and then went back home to Somerset. Today we spent a few hours arranging tickets and itineraries for the next few weeks, since we both have to travel for work as well. Tomorrow we're leaving for Washington DC, and I'll then continue to Durham, NC. It's fun to travel, and to see so many different places.

In the afternoon we had time to relax and we went for a long walk/run along the Delaware & Raritan canal, which was great. The weather is beautiful here; very sunny. Then we spend the rest of the late afternoon at the pool, and had a lazy barbecue poolside for dinner.

The train was late. Originally we had planned to meet in Trenton, PA, but since the delay was almost 90 minutes I decided to pick Sasha up a stop earlier.

Joran van der Sloot, the longtime suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway on Aruba, was arrested today in Chile on murder charges. Also, in a separate criminal complaint filed today the U.S. Attorney in Birmingham, Alabama accuses Van der Sloot of extortion and wire fraud.

Van der Sloot, a Dutch national, is accused of killing 21-year old Stephany Flores in a hotel on Sunday in Lima, Peru. This was five years to the day after Holloway disappeared. He fled Peru and was arrested today in Chile.

Hours later, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Alabama held a press conference discussing a separate criminal complaint against him. Allegedly, he asked for $250,000 in exchange for the whereabouts of Natalee Holloway. An advance amount of $15,000 had been wired from Alabama to the Netherlands on May 10, 2010.

In February 2008, an undercover video made by reporter Dutch reported Peter R. de Vries was aired on Dutch television purporting to show Van der Sloot smoking marijuana and admitting to being present during Natalee's death. He said he believed she was dead and asked a friend to dump her body in the sea.
